Using HomeRoots
Terms of Service
These terms govern your HomeRoots account, use of the service and any HomeRoots Premium subscription.
Last updated: 25 August 2026
1. About these terms
HomeRoots is operated by Lee Thompson, a sole trader, at Unit 157953, PO Box 7169, Poole, BH15 9EL. Contact: support@home-roots.co.uk.
By creating an account, you agree to these terms and confirm that you are at least 18. If you do not agree, do not create or use an account.
2. The service
HomeRoots helps users organise information about a home, including rooms, appliances, decoration, maintenance, warranties, insurance, photographs and documents. Features may vary between the Free and Premium plans and may be improved or changed over time.
HomeRoots is an organisational tool. It is not a survey, valuation, inventory, safety certificate, insurance policy or substitute for legal, financial, insurance, construction or professional advice. Important information should be checked with the relevant provider or qualified professional.
3. Your account
You must provide accurate information, keep your password confidential and promptly tell us if you suspect unauthorised access. You are responsible for activity through your account unless caused by our failure to use reasonable care and skill.
One person must not impersonate another, probe or bypass security, access information without permission, introduce malicious code, overload the service or use HomeRoots unlawfully.
4. Your content
You retain ownership of information and files you add. You give us a limited permission to host, copy, process and display that content solely as needed to provide, secure and improve HomeRoots.
You must have the right to upload and share your content. Do not upload unlawful material, malware, excessive special-category information, or another person’s confidential information without authority. HomeRoots is not intended to store payment-card details, account passwords or original documents that you are legally required to preserve elsewhere.
5. Household access and buyer links
A property owner can invite household members as editors or viewers. Owners are responsible for choosing recipients and roles, reviewing access and removing access when it is no longer appropriate. Editors and viewers cannot create buyer-passport sharing links or delete an owner’s account.
Buyer-passport links are intended for controlled, read-only sharing. Anyone possessing a valid link may be able to open it until it expires or the owner disables it. Do not publish these links openly. Information in a buyer passport is supplied by the homeowner and must be independently verified before anyone relies upon it.
6. Free plan and Premium trial
Free accounts are subject to the limits shown within the service. New eligible accounts currently receive a 14-day Premium trial without providing a payment card. A free trial does not automatically convert into a paid subscription unless you separately choose a plan and complete Stripe checkout.
We may change or withdraw promotional trials for future users, but this will not create a charge without your clear agreement.
7. Premium subscriptions
Premium is currently offered at £4.99 per month or £49.99 per year. The current price, billing frequency, trial treatment and total due are displayed before you confirm payment through Stripe. Prices include applicable consumer taxes where required.
Subscriptions renew automatically for the selected billing period until cancelled. Stripe processes payment details; HomeRoots does not store your full card number. If payment fails, Premium access may be suspended or revert to Free-plan access.
8. Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel a paid subscription at any time through Account → Manage billing. Unless the checkout or billing portal states otherwise, cancellation stops future renewal and Premium remains available until the end of the paid billing period.
Payments are generally non-refundable once charged, including for an unused part of a billing period, except where required by law or where we expressly agree otherwise. This policy does not limit your statutory consumer rights.
If you permanently delete your HomeRoots account, any connected subscription is cancelled immediately and access and stored content are removed. Account deletion does not automatically refund previous charges.
If you are a UK consumer, you may have a statutory right to cancel an online service contract within 14 days. If you ask for the paid service to begin during that period, the law may permit a proportionate deduction for service already supplied. Contact support@home-roots.co.uk promptly if you wish to exercise a statutory right.
9. Availability, changes and backups
We aim to provide HomeRoots with reasonable care and skill, but uninterrupted or error-free availability cannot be guaranteed. Maintenance, security work, provider outages or circumstances beyond reasonable control may interrupt access.
You should keep independent copies of documents and information that are important, irreplaceable or legally required. Export and deletion tools are available in Account settings. We may change, replace or discontinue features where reasonably necessary and will give appropriate notice if a material change significantly reduces a paid service.
10. Our intellectual property
The HomeRoots name, branding, software, interface, design and service content—excluding content uploaded by users—belong to us or our licensors. You receive a personal, limited, non-transferable right to use the service in accordance with these terms.
11. Suspension and termination
We may restrict or close an account where reasonably necessary to address fraud, security risk, unlawful use, serious or repeated breach, non-payment or risk to other users. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and provide a reasonable opportunity to resolve it.
You may stop using HomeRoots, cancel Premium or permanently delete your account at any time. Provisions intended to continue—such as ownership, payment obligations, liability and governing law—survive termination.
12. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
HomeRoots is not responsible for loss caused by inaccurate user-entered information, disclosure of a sharing link by a user, failure to retain an independent copy, or reliance on HomeRoots as professional advice, except where that loss results from our failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not liable for business losses where you use a consumer account for trade or commercial purposes.
13. Changes, law and contact
We may update these terms for legal, security or service reasons. Material changes will be communicated reasonably in advance where practical. Continued use after the effective date means the updated terms apply, but changes do not remove rights already accrued.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer elsewhere in the UK, you retain any mandatory rights to bring proceedings in your home jurisdiction.
Questions or complaints can be sent to support@home-roots.co.uk.
